Inserted into the body of this piece are samples of items you need to know and understand and practice. Learning to drive involves a Driving Syllabus and Driving Skills you need to learn, add to this Theory and knowledge of your car via the Show Me Tell Me questions. You will find these as you read the various paragraphs.

In America most people drive automatic cars. They refer to manual cars as ‘stick shift’ the stick being the gear lever. In this country (United Kingdom) the position is very different with the vast majority preferring to drive a car that has a clutch.

Our aim with the 2Pass.eu Driving School Franchise is to provide wide ranging cover. It is our intention to be able to offer automatic and manual car tuition plus motorcycle training. The launch of our service will be from early in 2009 and we aim to provide these services within a 20 mile range of Arbroath.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Driving Skill:- Do you always travel at a speed at which you can stop within the distance you can see to be clear? Knowing your stopping ability is so important if you want to be a safe driver. Braking differs from one vehicle to another so ensure you know your capabilities.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Nowadays, automatic cars are available with features that were not present a few years ago. It used to be that all automatics would pull forward when in gear, commonly referred to as ‘drive’. This is no longer the case.

Car makers like Toyota are developing safer cars that have many functions. Known as multi modes, these automatics afford you choices that conventional automatics do not such as the ability to select any gear if so desired.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Syllabus element:- Moving Off – When moving off from the side of a road it is important to Prepare the car, Observe all around you, Move off if it is safe to do so once you have checked your blind spot.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

There are three categories of driving tests for cars, manual, automatic and semi automatic. The reason for this is that semi automatics, although they do not have a clutch pedal, still have the need for you to select gears. Due to this the DSA treat semi automatics differently from automatics.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Syllabus element:- Meeting Other Traffic – If there is an obstruction on your side of the road or not enough room for two vehicles to pass safely, be prepared to wait and let approaching vehicle through. When you turn right across the path of an approaching vehicle, make sure you can do so safely. Be careful not to cause other road users to slow down, stop or swerve to avoid you.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

All things are not created equal – this is quite a common saying that also applies to automatic cars. Not all automatic cars are the same in the manner in which you drive them. This said there is one common feature, or to be more accurate, the absence of a common feature – the clutch – automatics do not have a clutch pedal.

Once you have passed the theory test the next challenge is the practical test. Repetition is the key. On test day you’ll really appreciate and benefit from your hard work. Practise makes perfect so practice hard, go over all the skills, repeat your manoeuvres time and again.

Vision allows you to see further down the road…Focus allows you to enhance what is on the journey, but ACTION is the only thing that will get you there!

Learning to drive appears to many to be quite complex but in fact once you understand what is required of a good driver, learning what you need to becomes easier. To help understand what you need to know, I have inserted into this document, elements taken from the Driving Syllabus, The Theory Test, Driving skills and Show Me Tell Me questions.

Cars have been around for a very long time and technology never stops developing easier ways in which the car performs many functions such as road holding, braking etc. You would think then that most people would choose the easiest form of driving, automatic cars, but in the UK this is just not so. In America however most people do drive automatics.

The 2Pass.eu Driving School has ambitions to provide a range of services. In our pilot area of Dundee we already provide training in manual and automatic cars plus motorcycle training. When we launch the 2Pass.eu Driving School Franchise early in 2009 we should be able to offer these services if you live within a 20 mile radius of Glasgow.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Driving Skill:- Do you drive with courtesy and consideration for other road users, including pedestrians? In order to be a good safe driver you need to be considerate of ALL road users!

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Gone are the days when all automatics had virtually identical characteristics. The dawning of the multi mode changed that. Manufacturers such as Toyota, are captaining the development of what they believe are safer automatics.

A feature of many automatics is the movement without power when the car is in gear. This movement is sometimes known as ‘creep’ and in some situations it can be dangerous. Toyota and other makes are developing cars that do not ‘creep’ such as the Toyota Yaris.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Syllabus element:- Bay Parking – you must demonstrate effective all round observation and show consideration to other road users when parking your vehicle.

Control your vehicle making proper use of clutch (if fitted), accelerator, brakes and steering. Allow for clearance as your vehicle is turning, the front will swing out to the left or right depending on the direction of travel.

Keep a special look out for cyclists and pedestrians who may pass close to the front of your vehicle.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

A semi automatic gearbox is a manual gearbox with an automatic clutch, so there is no clutch pedal. To change gear you need to push the gearstick one way or another, either up a gear or down a gear.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Syllabus element:- Reversing – When you are reversing you will need to control your vehicles speed. Steer a course reasonably close to the kerb. Remember that the front of your vehicle will swing out as you turn a corner. Throughout all of this, maintain effective observation of the area around you and act sensibly and safely on what you see.

Avoid hitting or mounting the kerb, or steering too wide.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

When one is going to learn to drive an automatic you will find learning that much easier than learning in a manual car. The reason for this is that all automatics, whilst not all being exactly the same in their characteristics, have no clutch pedal. You only require one foot to control the foot pedals being the accelerator and brake.

Throughout this website are hundreds of articles all with one common theme. Repetition of the skills you need to acquire, the elements of the driving syllabus plus sample extracts from the show me tell me questions. Absorb this information and combine it with plenty of practice in order to pass your practical driving test.

In summary, our fully qualified experienced instructors can help you on the path to a full licence. What is needed from you is the correct attitude and plenty of practice.

When learning to drive or ride a motorcycle it is important that you practise safe driving skills, are aware of your responsibilities and knowledgeable of the theory. For this reason, throughout this publication are included random sections of text referring to the Driving syllabus, Show Me Tell Me Questions, Theory Questions and Driving Skills.

In the UK, most people when they learn to drive, opt for learning in a maunual car. In the United states and in many other countries around the world this is not the case. In fact, manual or ‘stick shift’ as it is known, is the minority choice.

When learning to drive we, 2Pass.eu Driving School, believe that your driving school should be able to provide you with multiple options. Our aim is to offer car tuition in both manual and automatic cars and also motorcycle tuition. Our 2Pass.eu Driving School Franchise will start operations in 2009 and we should have cover within a 20 miles distance of Dundee.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Driving Skill:- Are your steering actions safe, smooth and accurate, and do you pass the wheel through your hands? Steering is an important consideration when learning to drive, aim to always keep your left hand to the left of the steering wheel and your right hand to the right. In this way your control of the steering wheel is maximised.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Automatic cars have changed in recent years. Technology is always developing new ways to do things and this is true also of automatic cars. No longer do all automatic cars pull forward or back when either ‘drive’ or ‘reverse’ is selected.

The creation of multi modes is changing the way automatics perform and manufacturers such as Toyota are investing huge sums of money to make their models safer. The Yaris is a good example of this.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Syllabus element:- Parallel Park – you must demonstrate effective all round observation and show consideration to other road users when parking your vehicle.

Control your vehicle making proper use of clutch (if fitted), accelerator, brakes and steering. Allow for clearance as your vehicle is turning, the front will swing out to the right.

Keep a special look out for cyclists and pedestrians who may pass close to the rear of your vehicle.

You would think that without the need to learn how to use a clutch, more people in the UK would drive automatic cars. In fact this is not the case. The majority of British drivers choose to drive a car that has a clutch and manual gearbox.

There are thousands of driving schools all over the country but most offer very limited services. Our 2Pass.eu Driving School Franchise launches early 2009. When it does we intend offering motorcycle training as well as automatic and manual car tuition and we should be in a position to do this if you are within 20 miles of Perth.

Nowadays, automatic cars are available with features that were not present a few years ago. It used to be that all automatics would pull forward when in gear, commonly referred to as ‘drive’. This is no longer the case.

Car makers like Toyota are developing safer cars that have many functions. Known as multi modes, these automatics afford you choices that conventional automatics do not such as the ability to select any gear if so desired.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Syllabus Element:- Safe Positioning – It is very important to know what a safe position is when driving and a short answer is really not possible due to the many variables. In the United Kingdom we drive on the left so for normal purposes positioning to the left is normal allowing a safety gap on the left of approximately a doors width to allow for doors opening, pot holes along the sides of roads, pedestrians standing close to the edge of the pavement etc.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Semi automatics are not treated the same as automatics for the purposes of a driving test. This is because although there is no clutch, the driver still needs to select a gear via the use of a gear stick or lever.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Syllabus element:- Pedestrian Crossings – You should be able to recognise the different types of pedestrian crossing and show courtesy and consideration towards pedestrians.

At all crossings you should slow down and stop if there is anyone on the crossing. At zebra crossings you should slow down and be prepared to stop if there is anyone waiting to cross.

Give way to pedestrians on a Pelican Crossing when the amber light is flashing.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Not all automatics perform the same. As with most things, there are different types of automatic cars. There is however one feature thing that all automatics lack and that is the clutch. When learning in an automatic car you will only need one foot to control the brake and the accelerator.

Your first challenge is to pass the theory test. Study with a friend. Studies show that people learn faster when you practise with a friend. Test each other with questions and tricky scenarios.

Expert instruction coupled with your determination to succeed. That’s what it takes to pass a driving test. Over to you!

There is a lot to learn when you set out to obtain a driving licence. What is most important is that you realise that you have a responsibiltity when in control of a vehicle that is powerful and can cause injury and death if handled incorrectly. Within the text of this post are sections taken from The Driving Syllabus, The Theory Test, Driving Skills and Show Me Tell Me questions.

Cars have been around for a very long time and technology never stops developing easier ways in which the car performs many functions such as road holding, braking etc. You would think then that most people would choose the easiest form of driving, automatic cars, but in the UK this is just not so. In America however most people do drive automatics.

There are thousands of driving schools all over the country but most offer very limited services. Our 2Pass.eu Driving School Franchise launches early 2009. When it does we intend offering motorcycle training as well as automatic and manual car tuition and we should be in a position to do this if you are within 20 miles of Dunfermline.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Driving Skill:- Can you turn the car around using forward and reverse gears whilst safely observing all around you? One of the manouevres you could be asked to perform is a ‘turn in the road’. It is important that you practise effective observation whilst maintaining control of the car.

Syllabus element:- Use Of Speed – You should make safe, reasonable progress along the road bearing in mind road, traffic and weather conditions and the road signs and speed limits. Make sure you can stop safely well within the distance you can see to be clear. Do not speed! Remember that as a new driver your licence will be revoked if you accrue six or more penalty points during the first two years after passing your driving test. In the event of you losing your licence you will have to retake both your theory and your practical test.

Now to pass your tests you need to work hard but there are things you can do which can help. For example observe other people driving, not with a view to copying them as experienced drivers have many bad habits, but to test yourself on real life scenarios. Try to imagine what you could have done better.

To do well you need determination and the correct attitude, add this to plenty of practise and the outcome is success!

The launch of our service will be from early in 2009 and we aim to provide these services within a 20 mile range of Forfar.

Syllabus element:- Meeting Other Traffic – If there is an obstruction on your side of the road or not enough room for two vehicles to pass safely, be prepared to wait and let approaching vehicle through. When you turn right across the path of an approaching vehicle, make sure you can do so safely. Be careful not to cause other road users to slow down, stop or swerve to avoid you.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

There are three categories of driving tests for cars, manual, automatic and semi automatic. The reason for this is that semi automatics, although they do not have a clutch pedal, still have the need for you to select gears. Due to this the DSA treat semi automatics differently from automatics.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Syllabus element:- Roundabouts – You should be able to judge the correct speed of approach so that you can approach a roundabout safely and stop if necessary. Position your vehicle correctly. Use the correct lane. If turning right, keep as near to the centre of the roundabout as is safe. When turning left keep over to the left and avoid swinging out. Check your left mirror for cyclists and motorcyclists and before moving to the left check for pedestrians.

A good driver needs to possess many things which can be broken down into a few categories. Knowledge of Theory, an understanding of the Driving Skills you need to acquire, and appreciation of the Driving Syllabus and ability to carry out all that these require. Included in this article are random extracts from the Theory Test, Show Me Tell Me questions, Driving Syllabus and Driving Skills.

Most drivers in the UK drive manual cars. It has been this way ever since the motor car was invented. In other parts of the world more people drive automatic cars. Although the process is slow, more UK drivers are opting for automatics.

2Pass.eu Driving School aims to provide the option of learning in either manual or automatic cars as well as motorcycle training. When we launch our 2Pass.eu Driving School Franchise at the beginning of 2009, our aim will be full cover of all our services within a 20 mile radius of St Andrews.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Driving Skill:- Do you always position correctly, with the correct gear selected for the speed at which you are travelling? Unless you drive an automatic, correct gear selection is important as is ensuring that you travel at a speed at which you can stop within the distance you can see to be clear.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Different manufacturers have ideas on what an automatic should be. It used to be that in an automatic car the gearstick layout was common with ‘Drive’ the selected mode to move the car forward. Other selections were ‘Park’, ‘Neutral’, ‘Reverse’ etc. With the advent of multi modes all this has changed and now all you need are three selections. ‘E’ for engage, ‘N’ for neutral and ‘R’ for reverse.

Another factor is that all automatics do not ‘creep’ or ‘pull’ when in gear. Multi modes are, in my opinion, safer to drive due to the fact that accidental movement either forward or backwards is minimal.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Syllabus element:- Emergency Stop – If you have to brake in an emergency remember to brake evenly and progressively and try to avoid locking the wheels. Remember that in wet weather it can take twice as long to stop safely. If you are riding a motorcycle you must make correct use of the front and rear brakes to make sure that you stop the machine as quickly as possible.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Semi automatics are not treated the same as automatics for the purposes of a driving test. This is because although there is no clutch, the driver still needs to select a gear via the use of a gear stick or lever.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Syllabus element:- Reversing – When you are reversing you will need to control your vehicles speed. Steer a course reasonably close to the kerb. Remember that the front of your vehicle will swing out as you turn a corner. Throughout all of this, maintain effective observation of the area around you and act sensibly and safely on what you see.

Avoid hitting or mounting the kerb, or steering too wide.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

A feature that attracts many people to learning in an automatic is the fact that they do not have a clutch pedal. This fact alone is common to all automatics and it means that you only need one foot for the pedals. This is convenient for people with certain disabilities. Automatics however do have different features and these will be covered elsewhere.

Your first challenge is to pass the theory test. Study with a friend. Studies show that people learn faster when you practise with a friend. Test each other with questions and tricky scenarios.

To do well you need determination and the correct attitude, add this to plenty of practise and the outcome is success!

In the UK, most people when they learn to drive, opt for learning in a maunual car. In the United states and in many other countries around the world this is not the case. In fact, manual or ‘stick shift’ as it is known, is the minority choice.

The 2Pass.eu Driving School has ambitions to provide a range of services. In our pilot area of Dundee we already provide training in manual and automatic cars plus motorcycle training. When we launch the 2Pass.eu Driving School Franchise early in 2009 we should be able to offer these services if you live within a 20 mile radius of Moggerhanger.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Driving Skill:- Unless you drive an automatic, are gears smoothly and correctly selected? Is your braking smooth and progressive? Do you use acceleration sense? There is nothing worse than a driver pulling away with tyres screaming, gears crashing as they are changed and worse still, hard braking!

All things are not created equal – this is quite a common saying that also applies to automatic cars. Not all automatic cars are the same in the manner in which you drive them. This said there is one common feature, or to be more accurate, the absence of a common feature – the clutch – automatics do not have a clutch pedal.

Throughout this website are hundreds of articles all with one common theme. Repetition of the skills you need to acquire, the elements of the driving syllabus plus sample extracts from the show me tell me questions.
Vision allows you to see further down the road…Focus allows you to enhance what is on the journey, but ACTION is the only thing that will get you there!

You would think that without the need to learn how to use a clutch, more people in the UK would drive automatic cars. In fact this is not the case. The majority of British drivers choose to drive a car that has a clutch and manual gearbox.

2Pass.eu Driving School aims to provide the option of learning in either manual or automatic cars as well as motorcycle training. When we launch our 2Pass.eu Driving School Franchise at the beginning of 2009, our aim will be full cover of all our services within a 20 mile radius of Kirkcaldy.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Driving Skill:- Can you reverse left into a limited opening remaining reasonably close to the kerb, observing all around you? One of the manoeuvres you could be asked to perform is reversing into a side road. It needs to be done in a controlled manner whilst ensuring observation all around you .

Syllabus element:- Moving Off – When moving off from the side of a road it is important to Prepare the car, Observe all around you, Move off if it is safe to do so once you have checked your blind spot.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Semi automatics are not treated the same as automatics for the purposes of a driving test. This is because although there is no clutch, the driver still needs to select a gear via the use of a gear stick or lever.

All things are not created equal – this is quite a common saying that also applies to automatic cars. Not all automatic cars are the same in the manner in which you drive them. This said there is one common feature, or to be more accurate, the absence of a common feature – the clutch – automatics do not have a clutch pedal.

Your first challenge is to pass the theory test. Study with a friend. Studies show that people learn faster when you practise with a friend. Test each other with questions and tricky scenarios.

You have heard the saying – ‘there is no substitute for experience’. How you get the experience is to practise.
