All things are not created equal – this is quite a common saying that also applies to automatic cars. Not all automatic cars are the same in the manner in which you drive them. The reason this may become a hazard is if you approach too fast or too close, the horse may react by rearing and throwing the rider into the path of your car. In order to minimise the risk, slow down and give the horse and rider a wide berth.

Syllabus element:- Turn In The Road – Keep a look out for traffic and pedestrians whenever you are turning your vehicle and be prepared to give way if necessary. Control your vehicle smoothly. Do not let the vehicle mount the pavement. Try not to touch the kerb as this could endanger other road users and pedestrians and possibly damage your tyres.

THEORY QUESTION

Question – You get a puncture on the motorway. You manage to get your vehicle onto the hard shoulder. Which of the following should you do, choose one answer.

a) Change the wheel yourself immediately
b) Use the emergency telephone and call for assistance
c) Try to wave down another vehicle for help

I hope that reading this has been a useful exercise. As a corporate trainer I obviously have a vested interest in selling my product but the above 20 reasons are not simply a sales pitch. Having worked on both sides of the fence, as a manager running a large sales force who had to maximise return on training investment and now as a trainer working to deliver maximum return for my clients training investment I understand the decision making process.

Sales training is essential for all of the reasons outlined above and should never be viewed as cost but rather as an investment. Return on investment is easily achieved when the training is well prepared, well delivered and well followed up. My absolute belief is not how can we afford to pay for sales training but rather how can we afford not to?

Just take a small recap of the above 20 points? If you were asked if you would pay, say £50, to achieve just one of the above points with just one of your people any manager would consider it money well spent. Achieving all 20 of the above benefits is a huge win and it is possible with the right training and the right trainer. Next time you consider the cost of training divide the sum involved by 20 (for each of the points above) and then by the number of people attending the training and you will see exactly how small an uplift is needed in order to guarantee return on your investment.

Budget cuts could hinder DWI convictions

tonight we’re seeing the first effects of yesterday’s state budget cuts. we’ve learned those cuts could mean trouble for prosecuting drunk drivers. specifically the cuts could lead to a backlog at the lab where the blood of dwi supects is tested. gadi schwartz is live in santa fe with how big a problem this could cause. any time a drunk driver gets his blood drawn- its up to the department of health to test it for alcohol. we aim to have 90 percent done in 8 weeks and its been slowing down because we havnt been able to keep up so right now completing about 70 percent in 8 weeks that means more than a quarter of those blood tests may not be ready by the target date… and that poses a problem for prosecutors dealing with repeat dwi offenders or drunk driving accidents that involve injuries or death.. because they onlhave 60 days to get an indictment. so we asked the bernalillo county da’s office what that could mean for some of the 7- thousand dwi cases they take on every year. if we can’t get those test results back quickly enough, either we are delayed in charging them , or we don’t have the evidence to charge them when it gets to trial, then the defendant is able to walk away. to make matters worse- the department of health’s lab is short 3 technicians because of a hiring freeze. and new state rules are taking technicians out of the lab more than ever before to testify in courts all across new mexico

Can a drunk driver who injures him/her self in a drunk driving accident receive disability?

I talked to a person who mentioned that he doesn’t work anymore because he cannot walk properly (has some kind of metal plates in his legs) due to an injury he sustained during a drunk driving accident. Can this person still possibly qualify for SSI disability? I didn’t think to ask, but I’d hate to think that this person is living off the taxpayers due to their own irresponsible behavior.
