Learn to drive with driving lessons from experienced, fully qualified Driving Instructors who have been approved by the Driving Standards Agency.

The process of learning to drive is quite involved and there is a lot to learn. All DSAADI instructors are fully qualified, very experienced Driving Instructors. All DSAADI Instructors are registered with the Driving Standards Agency and are classed as Approved Driving Instructors.

It is possible that one or more Driving Instructors have registered stating that they provide tuition in Aberlour

You would think that without the need to learn how to use a clutch, more people in the UK would drive automatic cars. In fact this is not the case. The majority of British drivers choose to drive a car that has a clutch and manual gearbox.

Different manufacturers have ideas on what an automatic should be. It used to be that in an automatic car the gearstick layout was common with ‘Drive’ the selected mode to move the car forward. Other selections were ‘Park’, ‘Neutral’, ‘Reverse’ etc. With the advent of multi modes all this has changed and now all you need are three selections. ‘E’ for engage, ‘N’ for neutral and ‘R’ for reverse.

Another factor is that all automatics do not ‘creep’ or ‘pull’ when in gear. Multi modes are, in my opinion, safer to drive due to the fact that accidental movement either forward or backwards is minimal.

Semi automatics differ from automatics in that when you want to change gear you must select the gear you require by either going up a gear or by going down a gear. As with a fully automatic there is no clutch pedal.

Driving is not just about being able to control a motor vehicle. In order to be a safe driver it is important to have a good knowledge of both the theory and practice of driving and a well developed ability to observe all that is going on around you.

Inserted into this article about Driving Schools there are references to Driving Skills, questions relating to the Theory Test, examples of the Driving Syllabus and one or more questions that you may be asked at the start of your Driving Test. These are known as ‘Show Me Tell Me’ questions.

Driving Skill:- Do you always travel at a speed at which you can stop within the distance you can see to be clear? Knowing your stopping ability is so important if you want to be a safe driver. Braking differs from one vehicle to another so ensure you know your capabilities.

Skill Element – Do you know what to do when ‘Meeting Traffic’ or ‘Crossing Traffic’ or ‘Overtaking A Moving Vehicle’? How about ‘Adequate Clearance’, do you know what is meant by the term?

Driving is an acquired skill. Repetition of certain routines enhance your chances of success but you need to know so much about the theory of driving. A dsaadi.com Driving Instructor will help you to:-

Know what to do for the best when another driver flashes headlamps.
Drive ‘Defensively’ and understand what ‘Defensive Driving’ is all about.
Realise what ‘Clearance’ to allow based on the speed at which you are traveling.
Learn how to anticipate the actions of other road users.
Judge if it is safe to cross oncoming traffic when turning right.

In order to be a safe driver, all of the subjects mentioned above need to be learned and understood . Your dsaadi.com Driving Instructor is very experienced and will transfer to you, knowledge acquired over years, in order to help you pass your driving test.

Hazard Perception Element – An example of a hazard could be a car pulling up at the side of the road. The reason this may become a hazard is if the driver or off side passenger opens a door.
Hazard Perception Element – An example of a hazard may be a bus stopping at a bus stop. You have to be observant for pedestrians trying to cross the road.

Show Me Tell Me Question:- Show me / explain how you would check that the power assisted steering is working before starting a journey.

Answer – If the steering becomes heavy the system may not be working properly. Before starting a journey two simple checks can be made. Gentle pressure on the steering wheel as you turn the ignition on.
Show Me Tell Me Question:- Identify where the windscreen washer reservoir is and tell me how you would check the windscreen washer level.

Answer – Identify reservoir and explain how to check level.

Driving Syllabus

Learning to drive involves undergoing training in a structured manner. The Driving Syllabus is comprehensive and some of the skills you need to learn are signaling, driving in traffic, pedestrian crossings, anticipating and planning, junctions, dual carriageways, use of speed.

THEORY QUESTION

Question – At toucan crossings which of the following is correct. Choose one answer.

a) you only stop if someone is waiting to cross
b) cyclists are not permitted
c) there is a continuously flashing amber beacon
d) pedestrians and cyclists may cross

Answer – d.
THEORY QUESTION

In which of the following situations should you avoid overtaking. Select one of the following.

a) Just after a bend.
b) In a one-way street.
c) On a 30mph road.
d) Approaching a dip in the road.

Answer – d.

Practice makes perfect. There is no substitute for experience. Familiar sayings but very true. Let a dsaadi.com Driving School Instructor guide you to driving test success. He or she will do this as inexpensively as possible.

It is most people’s aim to one day be able to drive. A full driving licence is for many people, a life changing skill. Your quality of life can be very positively influenced when you are legally entitled to drive. Some employers and jobs require that you have a full licence. You can start learning to ride a motorcycle from the age of 16 and a car from the age of 17.

Fully qualified instructors – have completed 12 to 18 months of training, possess a full licence to teach, and go through further ongoing courses and tests so they are committed to the job and will teach you all the way.

There may be Driving Instructors covering Bamford

Most drivers in the UK drive manual cars. It has been this way ever since the motor car was invented. In other parts of the world more people drive automatic cars. Although the process is slow, more UK drivers are opting for automatics.

All things are not created equal – this is quite a common saying that also applies to automatic cars. Not all automatic cars are the same in the manner in which you drive them. This said there is one common feature, or to be more accurate, the absence of a common feature – the clutch – automatics do not have a clutch pedal.

Driving Skill:- Unless you drive an automatic, are gears smoothly and correctly selected? Is your braking smooth and progressive? Do you use acceleration sense? There is nothing worse than a driver pulling away with tyres screaming, gears crashing as they are changed and worse still, hard braking!

Skill Element – Driving test success is not luck. It is the culmination of all you learn during your driving lessons. One part of the learning to drive syllabus covers the procedures for ‘Approaching Junctions To Turn Left Or Right’.

A dsaadi.com Driving Instructor will show you:-
How to understand the meaning of ‘Major And Minor Roads’.
What routine to use for turning left or right from a major to minor road.
What you should be looking for before turning into a minor road.
What is meant by ‘Corner Cutting’ and why it is potentially dangerous.
What to do if an approaching driver ‘Flashes His Headlamp’.
What you must not do to other drivers when turning either left or right.
What the correct procedure is for turning left or right into a minor road.
How to prioritize with regard to pedestrians you see crossing a road you intend turning into.

All Instructors registered with dsaadi.com are experienced and fully qualified driving instructors. He or she can advise you on the above plus all of the other syllabus items.

Hazard Perception Element – Examples of hazards could be – Hidden Road Junctions – Vehicles changing/merging lanes – Pedestrians exiting vehicles.
Hazard Perception Element – What is the Hazard Perception Test? The Hazard Perception Test (HPT) became part of the Theory Test in 2002, it makes up the second half of your theory test and involves watching a series of video clips and clicking the mouse when a hazard is identified.

Show Me Tell Me Question:- Show me how you would check that the horn is working (off road only).

Answer – Check is carried out by using control (turn on ignition if necessary).
Show Me Tell Me Question:- Show me how you would check that the brake lights are working on this car.

Answer – Operate brake pedal, make use of reflections in windows, garage doors, etc, or ask someone to help.

Syllabus element:- Reversing – When you are reversing you will need to control your vehicles speed. Steer a course reasonably close to the kerb. Remember that the front of your vehicle will swing out as you turn a corner. Throughout all of this, maintain effective observation of the area around you and act sensibly and safely on what you see.

Avoid hitting or mounting the kerb, or steering too wide.

THEORY QUESTION

As you are driving along you notice a white arrow to your right. The arrow is pointing left. Which of the following should you do? Select one answer.

a) Drivers to use the hard shoulder.
b) Overtaking drivers there is a bend to the left.
c) Overtaking drivers to move back to the left.
d) Drivers, it is safe to overtake.

Answer – c.
THEORY QUESTION

Question – You are approaching a hump back bridge. Choose three answers from the six possibles.

a) move into the middle of the road to get a better view
b) slow down
c) get over the bridge as quickly as possible
d) consider using your horn
e) find another route
f) beware of pedestrians

Answer – b,d,f.

Practice makes perfect. There is no substitute for experience. Familiar sayings but very true. Let a dsaadi.com Driving School Instructor guide you to driving test success. He or she will do this as inexpensively as possible.

Now is the time to start taking driving lessons. If you want the independence that only driving can give you and feel the freedom of the open road then there is no point in delay.

A qualified instructor will be able to promise the highest standards of tuition and tailor the lessons around your specific needs. Search for Driving Instructors in BD23

In the UK, most people when they learn to drive, opt for learning in a manual car. In the United states and in many other countries around the world this is not the case. In fact, manual or ’stick shift’ as it is known, is the minority choice.

Gone are the days when all automatics had virtually identical characteristics. The dawning of the multi mode changed that. Manufacturers such as Toyota, are captaining the development of what they believe are safer automatics.

A feature of many automatics is the movement without power when the car is in gear. This movement is sometimes known as ‘creep’ and in some situations it can be dangerous. Toyota and other makes are developing cars that do not ‘creep’ such as the Toyota Yaris.

If you are considering learning in an automatic you should be aware that the DSA have a separate category for semi automatics. This is because a true automatic does not require you to select a gear once you have moved off. Semi automatics require you to change gears although there is no clutch pedal.

When learning to drive or ride a motorcycle it is important that you practise safe driving skills, are aware of your responsibilities and knowledgeable of the theory. For this reason, throughout this publication are included random sections of text referring to the Driving syllabus, Show Me Tell Me Questions, Theory Questions and Driving Skills.

Driving Skill:- Do you always travel at a speed at which you can stop within the distance you can see to be clear? Knowing your stopping ability is so important if you want to be a safe driver. Braking differs from one vehicle to another so ensure you know your capabilities.

Skill Element – ‘Creeping and Peeping’ is what driving instructors call the process of ‘Emerging’.

Part of the Syllabus as it relates to driving, is knowing about ‘Emerging’ and how to do it safely. When you learn with a dsaadi.com registered Driving Instructor, he or she will show you and explain all about ‘Emerging’. For example:-

Who has priority at a ‘Give Way’ junction and how to identify types of ‘Give Ways’.
What routine to use for turning left or right when emerging from a minor road onto a major road.
The correct procedure for ‘Going Ahead’ at a crossroads.
Knowing what is meant by the terms ‘Open Junction’ and ‘Closed Junction’.
What to do for the best when ‘Peeping and Creeping’ based on what you can see.
How and where to position when emerging at junctions where your views left and/or right are obstructed.

Most people start out on the process of learning to drive with the best of intentions. In order to succeed it is helpful to receive guidance from one that knows all about what you need to learn. The best advice is to choose a Driving Instructor who is suitably qualified and properly registered in order to provide tuition.

A dsaadi.com Driving Instructor fits the bill. We are all what is known as ‘Approved Driving Instructors’ (ADI’s). Very experienced drivers and registered with the Driving Standards Agency.

Hazard Perception Element – There are so many situations that could become hazards. For example a dog off the leash is a potential hazard. No matter how well behaved a dog may look, it’s actions are unpredictable. When approaching it is wise to reduce your speed and mentally prepare for what you may need to do if the dog jinks into your path.
Hazard Perception Element – Hazardous situations could be – Pedestrians crossing the road – Cyclists – Weather Conditions – Meeting oncoming vehicles (country lanes, narrow roads)

Show Me Tell Me Question:- Open the bonnet, identify where the brake fluid reservoir is and tell me how you would check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid.

Answer – Identify reservoir, check level against high/low markings.
Show Me Tell Me Question:- Tell me where you would find the information for the recommended tyre pressures for this car and how tyre pressures should be checked.

Answer – Manufacturer?s guide, use a reliable pressure gauge, check and adjust pressures when tyres are cold, don?t forget spare tyre, remember to refit dust cap.

Driving Syllabus

Learning to drive is a process that can be enhanced through the use of a structured training process. The process involves Theory and Hazard Perception Training supplemented by expert instruction using the Driving Syllabus.

The Driving Syllabus is comprehensive. The element referred to as the Cockpit Check requires that you know how to adjust your seat and mirrors in order that you are comfortable and able to use all of the controls. Your Driving Instructor can show you the full syllabus.

THEORY QUESTION

Question – Who is responsible for making sure that a vehicle is not overloaded? Choose one answer from the following.

a) The driver of the vehicle
b) The owner of the items being carried
c) The person who loaded the vehicle
d) The licensing authority

Answer – a.
THEORY QUESTION

Question – In daylight, an approaching motorcyclist is using a dipped headlight. Why? Choose one answer from the following:-

a) So that the rider can be seen more easily
b) To stop the battery overcharging
c) To improve the rider’s vision
d) The motorcyclist is inviting you to proceed

Answer – a.

In summary, our fully qualified experienced instructors can help you on the path to a full licence. What is needed from you is the correct attitude and plenty of practice.
