Booking a Driving Theory Test?

I want to book my theory test for driving, so i have a couple of questions:

1. How many days after booking the test can you sit the test i.e. can you sit the test 3 days after booking or is there a set time you must wait?
2. How much is the test?
3. Is it true you can sit the test on your 17th birthday?

Thank you

p.s. I live in Scotland

    1) If a test date is available within three days when you book your test, then there is nothing stopping you from choosing that date;
    2) Standard fee for car (or motorcycle) theory test is £31.00;
    3) Providing you already have your provisional licence (you will need to enter the driver number on your licence when you book), you may book your theory test to coincide with your 17th birthday if a date is available, but not before then.

    Don’t know how different it is in Scotland to England… have you tried looking at the website online? There should be answers there. For my test, I just booked it as soon as possible, which happened to be a couple of weeks, I don’t think you would be able to book it for 3 days anyway, unless they’re not very busy…

    My test was £31, but then again I don’t know if it will be different where you are.

    You have to have provisional license to book it, so if your not 17, I don’t think you will already have one of those… I don’t know :S but I would assume that you can, as long as you’ve got your license and you are 17, try ringing a helpline or their website or something maybe.

    Hey there, will do my best to answer your questions – just booked my theory test yesterday actually!

    1) Basically there are a list of availiable dates as to when you’d like to sit your test and they usually range from a few days after and then up to a few months after (so at the moment it would be July or so for example).

    2) Like I say, I booked my test yesterday and it cost my £31, not sure if that’ll be the same where you are or not, but I’d say it’d be very similar and not much difference in it.

    3) Yes, you can sit your theory test on your 17th birthday, if you think you’ll be ready. However, they do say you’d be better with a bit of practice on the roads before sitting your test, but you can do it on your birthday if you want. Though, I am finding I can answer a lot more questions and they make much more sense now I’m driving on main roads.

    Hope I’ve helped :) and good luck with your driving and tests!
